GENESEE COUNTY
ARTS & CULTURAL MILLAGE
Vote Yes! August 4
for the Arts Education and Cultural Enrichment Millage
On August 4, Genesee County voters will be making a very important decision to continue receiving educational experiences in the arts and sciences with free or discounted admissions as a benefit of the Arts Education and Cultural Enrichment Millage. Last year alone, over 448,000 Genesee County residents took advantage of these enriching experiences. It is likely that you and your family have been a recipient of the benefits in some way.
The 10-year millage creates one-of-a-kind educational opportunities for Genesee County kids, families, adults and seniors. It ensures that all Genesee County students — regardless of their zip code, age or background — can access robust learning opportunities and experiences beyond the classroom.
Your "yes" vote is a vote to renew free or discounted access to Genesee County's world-class venues, including free general admission to the recently renovated and reimagined Sloan Museum of Discovery and the Flint Institute of Arts museum and school. This millage also offers discounted admission to live concerts and theatre productions through the FIM Capitol Theatre, FIM Whiting Auditorium, Flint Symphony Orchestra, and FIM Repertory Theatre.
Additionally, the Millage provides you discounted admissions at Longway Planetarium six days a week, discounts or free programs at the historic Berston Field House and discounts off live community theatre at The New McCree Theatre. The millage also supports many community theaters and cultural institutions around the county in Clio, Fenton, Linden, Davison, Grand Blanc and more through grants administered by Greater Flint Arts Council.
At Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium alone, over 90,000 kids took part in affordable school field trips in STEM and Social Studies and educational programs through Scouts, libraries, and summer camps.
If enriching experiences in education and arts are important to you and your family, please fill out your mail-in ballot or go to your polling location on August 4 and vote "yes" to renew the Genesee County Arts and Culture Millage for another 10-years.
