Enjoy a show in our 16m (52.5’) foot dome while relaxing in our reclining seats to get the best view of the stars. The recently renovated Longway Planetarium features a state-of-the-art Digistar 7 system with 4k projection system reaching a brightness level of 60,000 lumens and ChromaCove LED lighting. No theatre is complete without sound and Longway boasts a 7.1 surround-sound, movie theatre grade audio system allowing Longway to ensure our audio quality matches the stunning visuals. All planetarium shows start promptly; it is recommended that guests arrive 15 minutes prior to showtime. Due to the dark nature of the dome and for the safety of our guests, no late seating will be permitted.

One World, One Sky

Join Big Bird, Elmo and their new friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu as they learn about the Sun, the Moon, and the Big Dipper, then blast off in an imaginary rocket to the Moon! Along the way, they invite the audience to sing along to songs about space and celebrate the sky that belongs to everyone. It’s the perfect introduction to space for our littlest astronomers!

Shark Kingdom

Perfect Little Planet

Imagine the ultimate space vacation! Discover our solar system through a new set of eyes – a family from another star system seeking the perfect vacation spot. Fly over the surface of Pluto, our best known Dwarf Planet. Dive over the ice cliffs of Miranda. Sail through the rings of Saturn. Feel the lightning storms of Jupiter. Walk on the surface of Mars. Skies Over Michigan
Tuesday - Sunday @ 3 p.m.
Longway Planetarium’s astronomy experts take you on a tour of the night sky over Michigan in this live planetarium lecture. Learn about the rotation of the Earth, how to find the North Star, and which constellations and planets are visible in your backyard tonight. Stargazers can come back to this show again and again to find out about recent astronomical events and for seasonal updates on what’s visible in the night sky over Michigan.

Laser K-Pop Demon Hunters

Dive into the high-energy world of Laser K-Pop Demon Hunters – a laser show designed to thrill fans of all ages. Dazzling laser effects bring the pulse-pounding soundtrack from the hit movie K-Pop Demon Hunters to life in a spectacular planetarium show experience. The set list features popular hits “Golden,” “What It Sounds Like,” & more!

Showtimes
Each show lasts about 45 minutes. Seating is first come, first serve. The planetarium lobby will open one half hour prior to the first show of the day.
Regular Showtime Schedule (holidays will affect hours):
Mondays: Closed
Tuesday: 3 p.m. & 4 p.m.
Wednesday: 3 p.m. & 4 p.m.
Thursday: 3 p.m. & 4 p.m.
Friday: 3 p.m. 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m. Noon, 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., & 8 p.m.
Sunday: Noon, 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m.
Live lectures occur on the first Friday of the month at 6 p.m.
Sensory Friendly shows occur on the second Saturday of the month at 11 a.m.
Shoes and shirts need to stay on while in the planetarium building and dome for the safety of our guests. Once a show has started, there will be no late seating; please arrive before the show begins.
If you are unable to attend a show, we may be able to reschedule your tickets for a different show if you let us know before the show begins. Once the show starts, we cannot reschedule your tickets.
