In My Backyard | Join children’s entertainer Fred Penner from TV’s Nickelodeon as he explores things large and small, from the colors of the rainbow, to the reasons for the seasons. Through the use of entertaining songs and immersive environments, children are encouraged to participate while learning about the planets, constellations, meteors, the moon, and more. Geared towards the youngest stargazers and scientists, In My Backyard is sure to instill a sense of wonder and exploration while encouraging children to explore their own backyards.

One World, One Sky

Skies Over Michigan

Longway Planetarium’s astronomy experts take you on a tour of the night sky over Michigan in this live planetarium lecture. Learn about the rotation of the Earth, how to find the North Star, and which constellations and planets are visible in your backyard tonight. Stargazers can come back to this show again and again to find out about recent astronomical events and for seasonal updates on what’s visible in the night sky over Michigan.

Get ready for a spooktacular experience like no other! Laser Halloween is a mesmerizing laser light show that will cast a spell on you this Halloween season. Immerse yourself in a kaleidoscope of eerie colors and patterns as lasers dance across the darkness to spooky favorites like “Weird Science,” “Beetlejuice,” “Superstition” and more!

For the safety of our guests, once a laser light show has started, there will be no late seating. If you need to exit the show for any reason, there will be no re-admittance. Please plan accordingly.
