Level 1 STEM Camp

1st-3rd grades


Date: June 20 – 24
Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
Grades: 1st - 3rd
Cost: $95 Space Science: Explore our Solar System. Make your own Solar System model and learn about what makes each planet unique. Chemistry: Let’s learn about the surprising things chemistry has to offer! Will it bubble, fizz or change color? Why do certain things react? Life Science: Let's explore the different animal habitats found around the Planetarium. Can we recreate these habitats using man made items? Engineering: Put on your engineering caps because we will be building our favorite amusement park rides.

Alpha Omega Camp - Make it Move

3rd - 6th grades


Date: June 20 - 24
Time: 1 - 4 p.m.
Grades: 3rd - 6th
Longway Planetarium partners with some of Genesee County’s best teachers! Guest teachers from the Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society will be on hand as girls explore motion with fast-paced, fun engineering challenges. Use a variety of art and craft materials to build a balloon buggy, build and fly a beautiful kite, and design and build a cardboard automata.

Blue Print Builder

Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
Grades: 1st - 3rd
Cost: $12
Are you ready to design a building of the future with this hands-on engineering program. Sketch out your dream structure, use upcycle material, and learn about developing a city. Make sure those structures are sturdy, they will be tested on the earthquake shaker table

Clay Creations

Come experience the wonderful world of clay! Kids will learn about the many uses of clay and some of the greatest clay artists! Using one of the world's most versatile and forgiving mediums, kids will have the opportunity to learn how to design their own sculptures and even make their own claymation movie!

Patterns, colors, and shapes. It’s amazing how much art is around us in nature. Explore the natural world around you and use it as inspiration to create beautiful masterpieces.

National parks are full of wonder, discovery, and exploration. These locations contribute to our nation's rich natural, cultural, historical, and recreational resources.
