Storm clouds gather and thunder crashes. Wild weather is on its way! Whether the weather is hot, sunny, or cloudy, weather affects our daily lives. Explore the sun-water-weather connection and design and build a wind resistant structure and test it at the Wind Wall in Discovery Hall.

Use your science and math skills to develop your own bubble juice recipe and make a batch of bubble juice to take home. Use surprising every day materials to make bubble tools and create a beautiful bubble wand of your own.

Explore motion while building a variety of gadgets, fliers, and flippers. Fly your kite at the Wind Wall in Discovery Hall, build something that stays aloft in a wind tube, and play with cardboard flippers.

Matter makes up the world around us. Explore matter while learning how to describe properties and make careful observations while we change matter in different ways. Figure out how to make ice melt faster, mix up some mixtures that you can separate out again, and try a chemistry experiment that pops.

Explore energy while visiting interactives in Discovery Hall. Make your own light surprise box and investigate how mirrors can change the path of light. Make a variety of noise makers while observing the connection between materials and vibrations.

Cost: $15
Spend some time in the Planetarium garden while exploring the life cycle of plants. Dissect a flower to see where the seed starts. Hunt for helpful pollinators, look at some pollen under a microscope, and see how pollen gets moved from plant to plant by helpful animals. Start a few plants to take home and grow.

Visit the Durant Gallery for a car safari scavenger hunt. We'll use real cars in the gallery and toy cars in the classroom for math, science, and engineering fun. Learn how the shape of a car helps it go faster while engineering an aerodynamic buggy.

Look up and what do you see? The sun? The moon? Stars? What's up there and why do these objects seem to move across the sky? Take a tour through the Solar System while learning the difference between stars, moons, and planets. Make a beautiful piece of art to take home.

Do you love rocks and fossils? Sort, measure, and clean rocks while preparing your own rock and fossils box. Look and touch real fossils and make a modern fossil to take home.

Open-ended engineering challenges and creative projects with plenty of time to work on self-guided projects. Float Your Boat: Choose from a variety of materials to build a boat that carries cargo without sinking. Shadow Puppets: Experiment with colored light and shadows that are made by it. Design shadow puppets to take home.

Dinosaur Discovery: Play a dinosaur name game, see and touch real fossils, make a fossil model to take home, and learn about dinosaur defenses. Storybook STEM Engineering Challenges: Build a better chair for Baby Bear, a stronger house for the three little pigs, and a landing pad for Humpty Dumpty.
