The Lost World of Dragons

Explore the legends behind these mythical beasts.

A 6000 square foot interactive exhibition inspired by dragon mythology and its cultural origins from around the globe.

This unique exhibition features life-size animatronic dragons and interactive displays including scavenger hunts, dragon fossil digs, shadow puppet theatre, and a virtual reality dragon flight experience.

The Lost World of Dragons was created in collaboration with historian Adrienne Mayor. A research scholar for the Classics Department and the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology Program at Stanford University, Mayor was instrumental in developing the educational content for this exhibition. A well-respected author in her field, her work has been translated into Greek, Russian, and Japanese, among other languages.

Start your scavenger hunt the moment you enter by picking up The Dragon Challenge scavenger hunt. As you look for clues, you'll find dragon bones, slumbering dragons covered in gold, lanterns that reveal a stunning red dragon, and more. Discover why the red dragon of China has a very different cultural meaning than the god-like dragon of MesoAmerica, and which country still uses dragons on their flag.
