Cosmic Colors

Showing June 1 - 16, 2024 | Tues - Sun at 2 p.m.

Discover the many reasons for color—like why the sky is blue, and Mars is red. Take a tour within a plant leaf and journey inside the human eye. Investigate x-rays by voyaging to a monstrous black hole and then back to your doctor's office. You will even see the actual color of a dinosaur—based on recent evidence. Get ready for an amazing adventure under a rainbow of cosmic light. Recommended for ages 5+

Skies Over Michigan

Show Daily, Tuesday - Sunday at 3 p.m.

Longway Planetarium’s astronomy experts take you on a tour of the night sky over Michigan in this live planetarium lecture. Learn about the rotation of the Earth, how to find the North Star, and which constellations and planets are visible in your backyard tonight. Stargazers can come back to this show again and again to find out about recent astronomical events and for seasonal updates on what's visible in the night sky over Michigan. Recommended for ages 10 and older.

Legend of the Enchanted Reef

Dive in with three friends on the ocean adventure of a lifetime! Join energetic Shorty, intelligent Indigo, and daring sawfish Jake on a colorful coral reef adventure. As they search the sea for a legendary reef, the friends encounter a variety of intriguing environments, from kelp forests to sunken wrecks—and even outer space! Their unforgettable journey brings them face-to-face with an octopus, dolphins, anglerfish, and other exotic creatures. Throughout their adventure, they must avoid hungry sharks, hazardous pollution, and other dangers, as they seek a reef that may be a myth.
