Girls' Camp Alpha Omega: Engineering - SOLD OUT

Location: Longway Planetarium

Ages: Entering 3rd – 6 Grades
Join Longway Planetarium as we partner with some of Genesee County’s best teachers! Guest teachers from the Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society will be on hand as girls put their problem solving skills to the test. Design and build a bridge that can support weight, build a protective cargo compartment for an air powered rocket that will deliver an egg safely back to Earth, along with other fun and fast-paced engineering themed activities.

Water is one of Planet Earth’s most precious resources. Explore Earth’s oceans, lakes, and rivers, while learning about the water cycle, water uses, and habitats. Make an ocean in a bottle. Work together to design a lake ecosystem model. Build a water cycle project.

Head, shoulders, knees, and toes! See how your five senses help you explore your environment. Make a paper skeleton and fill it with organs while learning about the digestive, respiratory, and circulatory system.

Fairytale STEM - SOLD OUT

Discover the science behind some of your favorite fairy tales! Build your own Baby Bear’s chair and make sure that it’s just right! Help Rapunzel find something sturdier to climb than her hair. Plant your own beanstalk and more as we explore the science of “once upon a time”!

  • Join the Lost Ladybug Citizen Science project! Hunt for ladybugs, take their pictures and upload the pictures onto the Lost Ladybug website to help entomologists track the ladybug population.
  • Space
  • Learn about the upcoming solar eclipse, work together to design a solar system mural, and explore planets, stars, and moons.
  • Chemistry
  • Measure, mix, stir, and pour while investigating solids, liquids, and gasses.
  • Patterns and Cycles
  • Why does the moon change shape? What makes day and night? Where does the water in a mud puddle go? Identify and explore patterns in the natural world.
  • Make it Move
  • Build ramps to make an object travel to a target, make a spool racer and a straw rocket.

    G’day, mate! Adventure into the outback to learn Australian lingo, make your own didgeridoo and boomerang, and explore aboriginal dot art and culture.

    Light, Shadows, and Colors - SOLD OUT

    Can you make a light beam hit a target? Use flashlights and mirrors to change the direction of light. Choose your material and make your own shadow puppets. Catch a rainbow and make a color mixing top to spin.

    Planet Earth: Inside and Out - SOLD OUT

    From the metallic core of the earth to the highest mountains, investigate features of the earth’s surface and what our planet looks like on the inside. Investigate different soil types and see how earth materials can be used as construction materials.
