Discover many healthy options for the first meal of the day! Enjoy a yummy breakfast in the Halfway Cafe. Kids will make an Elmo Hat to take home as well as color and draw on a Sesame Street activity place mat. After breakfast, play in the Sesame Street Presents: The Body exhibit and everyone gets to have their photo taken with your favorite furry monster-Elmo! Don't forget the camera! Find out what’s inside your body! Place the heart, lungs, stomach, and intestines on a kid-sized cut-out, while exploring what each organ does. Limited space. Registration Required.

OUTDOOR PLAY

Get out and play! Join us in the Museum Courtyard for a variety of outdoor games, toys, and races. Run through our obstacle course, make and decorate your own bean bag to toss at a target you create. Jump rope, kick balls, and run because playing outside is healthy and fun! No need to register, just drop in!

The Life and Times of General George Custer
Guest Lecturer: Dakota Starr

Dakota Starr will be giving an in-depth presentation about the life and times of General George Custer. He will be giving an overview of Custer's service in the Civil War, then focus on his achievements out West, his view of the Indians, and the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
Mr. Starr will also be bringing various reproductions to pass around to help the audience get a better feeling of what he and his men went through on the final few years before the West was won.

Spend two days learning about and building the bridges you see every day. Kids will try their hand at building a truss bridge, a suspension bridge, and-new this year-a draw bridge!!

PLAYTIME IN WISNER’S WHIZBANG EMPORIUM

Held in the Museum’s hands-on children’s gallery, this program will provide opportunities for independent play and for structured activities that help kids practice their math and literacy skills.

HISTORICAL CRAFTS

Before video games and computers kids of the past had their own idea of fun. Make your own candle, design a 9 patch quilt square and try your hand at soap carving.

CIVIL WAR CAMP
July 23 – July 25, 9:00–11:00am

Tour the Civil War Gallery and learn about the soldiers from the Flint area who fought for the Union. In the classroom design your own drum, make a sewing kit, build a fort and so much more!

MICHIGAN HERITAGE
July 30, 9:00–11:00am

FEE: $8
Take a tour of Sloan Museum’s Michigan Heritage galleries. Learn about the Native Americans, the French Fur Traders, the Pioneers and the Lumbermen. Each gallery will have artifacts available to use such as a wool card, a cant hook, a drop spindle, a fire bow and flint and steel. Make a craft in each gallery to help you remember all that you’ve learned!

WATER PARTY
July 30, 1:00–2:30pm

FEE: $6
Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel! Cool off with several hands-on stations in Sloan Museum’s Courtyard. Run thru the car wash, play with sponge water bombs and take a swing at a water balloon piñata. Activities will be substituted indoors in the case of inclement weather.

OUTDOOR DÉCOR

Try your hand at creating beautiful outdoor décor! We will look to the seasons to create pinwheels, sun catchers, wind chimes and a rain gauge.

INDOOR CAMP FIRE

Help us build tents out of blankets and chairs, build a “campfire” make indoors’mores and other fun indoor camping activities. *We will be using foods that may contain nut products*
