Sloan Museum at the Flint Cultural Center is closed for renovation. Sloan Museum's new exhibition space inside Courtland Center Mall is the temporary home of over 30 historic vehicles from Sloan Museum's automotive collection, as well as hands-on traveling exhibits and a new family play area.

Extreme Deep: Mission to the Abyss brings the ocean floor to the surface! Investigate newly discovered life forms, thermal vents, deep-sea research submersibles, and shipwrecks like the Titanic in this hands-on adventure. Get an interactive look at the technology that has allowed people to explore the ocean floor as you fly a remotely operated vehicle and use a robotic arm to pick up lava rocks and clams.

Roll, Drop, Bounce

February 1 - September 13, 2020

This active learning laboratory teaches physics principles through hands-on play. Explore potential and kinetic energy while racing cars and catapulting balls. Experiment with friction while hula-hooping and playing with an air table and puck. Discover the power of momentum as you test out Newton’s Cradle. This totally kinetic experience appeals to continuously bouncing kids of all ages.

Historic Vehicles from Sloan Museum's Automotive Collection

February 1 - September 13, 2020

The historic vehicle exhibits will be closed Jan. 21 - Jan. 31, 2020 during new exhibit installation and will re-open Feb. 1, 2020. Courtland Center is the temporary home of over 30 vehicles representing a cross section of Sloan Museum's automotive collection. A variety of vehicles are on display, including concept cars, trucks, and classic cars dating from the early 1900s to the late 1980s. All of these vehicles have historic ties to Flint and Genesee County. Whether it was assembled in the area, entirely Flint-built, or features Flint-made parts, each vehicle helps tell a story about how the automotive industry shaped life in Flint—and how Flint helped put the world on wheels.

Family Play Area

The family play area will be closed Jan. 21 - Jan. 31, 2020 during new exhibit installation and will re-open Feb. 1, 2020. If you loved Wisner’s Whizbang Emporium at Sloan Museum in the Flint Cultural Center, you don't want to miss the chance to play in this new gallery at Courtland Center. The new gallery gives kids a place to be active and features an outdoor theme. Play on the climber, explore the giant dollhouse, shop for food in the grocery store, host a cookout at the play picnic table, put on an puppet show, and so much more. This is the perfect spot for kids and grown-ups to spend time playing together.
